Dhaka: Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 21.2 percent, reaching $1,807 million in the first 16 days of February, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued today. This significant increase highlights the continued support from overseas Bangladeshis to the economy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, last year during the same period, the country's remittance inflow was $1,490 million. The sustained increase in remittance inflows is a positive sign for the country's economy, reflecting the resilience and commitment of the expatriate community.
During the period from July to February 16, 2026, of the current fiscal year, expatriates sent remittances totaling $21,240 million. This is a substantial increase compared to $17,452 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year. This surge in remittances is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the country's foreign exchange reserves and economic stability.
