Rajshahi: Mizanur Rahman Minu, the victorious BNP candidate from Rajshahi-2 (Sadar), has issued a warning that extortionists will be dealt with firmly. He emphasized his familiarity with the local context, saying, “I was born here. I know who does what here. Everyone will be suppressed with a firm hand.”

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minu made these statements on Friday after offering Jumma prayers at the Hazrat Shah Makhdum (R.) Dargah Mosque in Rajshahi, where he also interacted with the public. While speaking to journalists, the adviser to the BNP chairperson reiterated his stance against those engaged in extortion and illegal activities.

He stressed that “those who are enemies of the nation, land grabbers, extortionists, or who oppress the people-whoever they may be-will be suppressed with a firm hand.” He vowed that individuals who have unlawfully occupied various lands and properties over the past 17 years and the last one and a half years would be brought under the law.

Minu also expressed his vision for Rajshahi, stating, “Rajshahi will be developed as a city of peace. Those who participated in this election are all my brothers. I want us to build Rajshahi together.”

Present during the occasion were Minu’s chief election agent Waliul Haque Rana, Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, and BNP leader Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, among others.
