Expatriate Bangladeshis greet PM

DAVOS, Switzerland, Jan 18, 2017 (BSS)-Expatriate Bangladeshis living in different European countries have greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of her visit to Switzerland.

The expatriate Bangladeshis, who came from different cities of

Switzerland and its neighbouring states, extended their greetings to the premier on Tuesday by gathering in front of Silveretta Park Hotel where Sheikh Hasina is staying during her visit to Switzerland.

They chanted various slogans hailing the prime minister and wished success of her participation in the World Economic

Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting.

"With her joining such a high-profile meeting, Bangladesh's image has been brightened further on the world stage," said Sultan Mahmud Sharif, the president of UK chapter of Awami League.

The expatriates also thanked WEF Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab for inviting the premier to the WEF annual meeting.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is now in Davos on a five-day official visit to Switzerland to attend the 47th Annual

Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Sheikh Hasina is the first elected Bangladeshi leader to attend the high profile annual global meeting that draws statesmen, top business leaders and the intelligentsia to discuss crucial global

issues.

The four-day meeting kicked off at Congress Centre in Davos, a mountain resort at Graubunden in the eastern Alps region of Switzerland, under the theme "Responsive and Responsible Leadership".
