Washington: Former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers announced on Monday that he is “stepping back” from public commitments. This decision comes after Congress released emails indicating close communication between him and the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Summers expressed regret over his past interactions with Epstein, stating, “I take full responsibility for my misguided decision to continue communicating with Mr. Epstein.” Summers further mentioned in his statement to US media that while he will continue fulfilling his teaching responsibilities, he intends to step back from public commitments as part of his efforts to rebuild trust and repair relationships with those closest to him.
