Ex-President of Tangail BNP FF Hamidul Haque Mohon Passes Away

Tangail: Founder president of Tangail district BNP, eminent freedom fighter Hamidul Haque Mohon, was buried at the local central graveyard today with a guard of honor and respect from people of all walks of life. He passed away from a heart attack on Monday evening while returning to his Tangail residence after attending view-exchange meetings in the Nagarpur-Deldular areas of the district. He was 79.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hamidul Haque Mohon is survived by his wife, two sons, three daughters, political comrades, friends, relatives, and well-wishers, who mourn his death. Earlier, a namaz-e-janaza was held at Bindu Basini Government Boys School ground after Zohr prayers, attended by hundreds of people irrespective of their political beliefs.



Attendees of the janaza included Bangabir Kader Siddiqui Bir Uttam, BNP central vice president Advocate Abdus Salam Pintu, central publicity secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Lutfar Rahman Khan Azad, president of district BNP Hasanuzzaman Shaheen, its general secretary Advocate Forhad Iqban, and Amir of Zila Jamaat Ahsan Habib Masud. A smart contingent of police led by Tangail district administration also gave a guard of honor.



Hamidul Haque Mohon was a close associate of legendary leader Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani and an aspirant candidate of BNP for Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar) constituency. He was actively involved in socio-cultural and welfare activities, serving as the president of the Tangail Citizens Rights Protection Committee and chief adviser of the Tangail Journalists Union for a long time. He was also the brother-in-law of eminent language hero Abdul Matin.
