DHAKA: A Dhaka court ordered the imprisonment of former information minister Hasanul Haque Inu in connection with the killing of college student Khalid Hasan Saifullah. The incident occurred during an anti-discrimination students' movement in the Azimpur area of the capital. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court's decision came after police presented Inu before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah following the conclusion of his four-day remand. Authorities requested that Inu remain in custody. Inu was arrested on August 26 from a residence in Uttara, Dhaka. The case originates from the fatal shooting of Khalid Hasan Saifullah on July 18, as he participated in a rally against discrimination within the Azimpur Government Residential Area. Saifullah's father subsequently filed a case on August 19 at Lalbagh Police Station, naming 52 individuals as involved, including the former prime minister, Sheikh Hasina.
