Gaibandha: A retired additional district and sessions judge lost his life in a road accident on the Sundarganj-Rangpur regional highway in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha on Sunday night. The deceased, Awal Sarker, was a resident of Moniram village under Bamandanga union in the upazila.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Awal Sarker was traveling home from Gaibandha town on a motorcycle around 10:30 pm when a truck collided with him from behind near a filling station area, resulting in his immediate death.
Shahin Mohammad Amanullah, Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Police Station, stated that the body had been recovered and handed over to the family following the completion of legal procedures. He added that the truck involved in the incident had not been seized yet, and the family was in the process of filing a case.
During his career, Awal Sarker served as a judge in various districts including Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Bagerhat, Gazipur, Dhaka, and Satkhira.
