Dhaka: Education Adviser Professor Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar called upon everyone to come forward with integrated efforts for achieving quality education. “Ensuring quality education within the government’s constrained timeframe and resources demands a united effort from all,” he stated during the inaugural ceremony of The National Primary Education Week 2025 and the presentation of the Primary Education Medal 2024 at the Multipurpose Conference Hall of the Directorate of Primary Education.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Abrar emphasized the role of educational institutions as training grounds for the nation’s future builders. Despite the limited time and resources available to the government, he acknowledged the pressure of responsibility in nurturing young students. He stressed the importance of collaborative work within two ministries to develop the latent talents of students.
Dr Abrar highlighted the slogan of the National Primary Education Week, “Ensure quality education, Build a Discrimination-Free Bangladesh,” as a guiding principle for the entire education system. He pointed out the state’s responsibility to support students from childhood through tertiary education and emphasized the need for families and educational institutions to work together to address any deviations.
He underscored the noble nature of the teaching profession and the importance of respecting teachers. “Teachers are entrusted with the responsibility of developing students as craftsmen to build the country,” he stated. Despite resource inadequacies, Dr Abrar emphasized the necessity of respecting teachers, from primary educators to university vice-chancellors.
The education adviser urged guardians and governing bodies to monitor educational institutions to prevent issues. He advocated for a holistic approach to education, encouraging students to engage in activities like dance, singing, sports, and competitions to develop their talents alongside their studies. This approach, he noted, requires support and cooperation from all sectors of society.
Dr Abrar also spoke about education as a tool for eliminating inequality and fostering a child’s growth. He called for an environment that nurtures children’s latent talents, emphasizing that education should develop individuals beyond mere job or business preparation, instilling justice and principles within them.
Concluding the event, Dr Abrar distributed the Primary Education Medal 2024 to the winners. The ceremony was presided over by Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder, with Primary and Mass Education Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana also in attendance.
