Rupganj: Hawkers' stalls, makeshift markets, and vehicle stands have encroached on much of the road beneath the Bhulta-Gawsia flyover in Rupganj of Narayanganj, leaving only a narrow passage for traffic on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway. Long-distance buses, trucks, rickshaws, battery-run rickshaws, and CNG-run auto-rickshaws are forced to negotiate the congested stretch, often squeezing past one another as they encounter oncoming traffic.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the bottleneck frequently brings traffic to a crawl and causes long tailbacks, while the chaotic movement of vehicles increases the risk of accidents and makes daily travel difficult for passengers, residents, and pedestrians.
