Dhaka: Home Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd) stated that the ongoing election is being conducted in a fair and festive atmosphere, with only a couple of minor isolated incidents reported. He shared these observations while speaking to journalists after casting his vote at the Baridhara Scholars International School and College polling centre at DOHS Baridhara in the capital at 10 am.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser expressed a strong commitment to ensuring that the election process remains free, fair, peaceful, acceptable, and festive. He highlighted the crucial role of journalists in maintaining the integrity of the national election, emphasizing that factual reporting is key to countering misinformation and propaganda, particularly from neighboring countries.
He remarked, “If journalists publish factual news during the national election, rumours and propaganda can be prevented,” and voiced hope that the media would continue to deliver accurate and objective news throughout the polling process.
Following his visit to the polling centre, the adviser also visited the central law and order coordination cell of the Home Ministry and the operation control room at Police Headquarters.
