Khulna: The eight-party alliance, spearheaded by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, is set to convene a divisional rally in Khulna tomorrow to advocate for their five-point demand. This gathering will also serve as a platform to promote a 'Yes' vote in the upcoming referendum on constitutional amendments set to coincide with the national election in early February.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the political coalition aims to use this rally as an opportunity to continue preparations for the national election. Professor Mahfuzur Rahman, the rally implementation committee convener and Jamaat-e-Islami central leader, stated at a press briefing at the Khulna Press Club that the primary rally will take place at Shibbari Babri Chattar at noon. The event is expected to draw a significant crowd, potentially ranging from 1.5 to 2 lakh participants, stretching across adjacent areas.
In anticipation of the rally, organizers have made extensive preparations, including the installation of over 150 sound horns, numerous banners, festoons, and billboards. Additionally, more than 5 lakh leaflets have been distributed in recent days to boost turnout. Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman is scheduled to address the rally as the chief guest, with Charmonai Pir and Islami Andolon Bangladesh Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim presiding over the event.
To ensure smooth proceedings, a stage, two media platforms, and multiple subcommittees have been organized, along with designated parking facilities at several points across the city. The organizers express hope that the rally will proceed peacefully. The press briefing was attended by key figures, including Jamaat central working committee member Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Islami Andolon leader Mufti Amanullah, and other senior leaders.
