Dhaka: Eight more people have succumbed to dengue in the past 24 hours, raising the total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 157 this year. A surge in hospital admissions has been observed, with 1,733 new patients seeking medical care during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 1,282 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that the majority of new admissions were from Dhaka Division, with 701 cases. Other affected areas include Mymensingh Division with 110 cases, Chattogram Division with 191, Khulna Division with 302, Barishal Division with 191, Rajshahi Division with 145, Rangpur Division with 86, and Sylhet Division with 7 cases.
This year, 53,570 patients have been admitted to hospitals nationwide due to dengue. Out of these, 49,375 patients have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment. In comparison, last year saw 102,861 infections and 413 deaths attributed to dengue.
