Eight More Children Die with Measles-Like Symptoms, Death Toll Reaches 1,122

Dhaka:Eight more children succumbed to measles-like symptoms within a 24-hour period until 800 a.m. on Saturday, raising the nation's total of confirmed and suspected measles-related fatalities to 1,122 this year.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has categorized all eight recent deaths as suspected measles fatalities.

The cumulative number of suspected measles deaths has now reached 1,020, while the count of confirmed deaths from measles remains at 102. During the same 24-hour timeframe, 1,109 new suspected measles cases emerged, increasing the nationwide total of suspected cases to 195,197.

Additionally, 43 new confirmed measles cases were identified, bringing the overall number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 21,666.

Since March 15, a total of 173,024 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country, out of which 167,756 have recovered, as per DGHS data.
