Eight Awami League Activists Arrested for Organizing Unauthorized Processions in Capital

Dhaka: Police arrested eight leaders and activists of the fallen fascist Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies from different parts of the capital in the last 24 hours on charges of destabilizing the country by bringing out sudden processions.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrestees were identified as Ekram Hossain (25), organizing secretary of Alipur Union Chhatra League, Adnan Pipul, information and technology affairs secretary of Daganbhuiyan Thana in Feni District, Md Asibul Haque Arnab (25), member of Tejgaon University College Chhatra League unit, Sajib Rahim Palak, joint general secretary of Purba Chandrapur Union Chhatra League of Daganbhuiyan Thana in Feni, Saker Alam, member of Iqbal Memorial College Chhatra League in Feni, Md Zahurul Islam, member of Chuadanga Zila Parisad, Mokarram Hossain (48), vice president of Jatrabari Unit No. 63 Ward Awami League, and Yasmin Rahman (48), general secretary of Wari Thana No. 39 Ward Mohila Awami League.



Confirming the arrests, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Telebur Rahman stated that separate teams from the Detective Branch (DB) conducted the arrests in the Mohammadpur, Gabtoli, Jatrabari, and Lalbagh areas.



The detainees were accused of organizing and destabilizing the country by holding unauthorized processions in different parts of the capital, as noted in a DMP press release. Legal proceedings are currently underway against the detainees.
