Dhaka: An Eid-ul-Fitr prayer congregation was held today in the tunnel of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at South Plaza at 8 am. The event witnessed participation from Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Bir Bikram, along with officials and employees of the Parliament Secretariat, as well as Muslims from various segments of society.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this year marked the first time that separate arrangements were made for women to participate in the Eid congregation. Kaniz Maula, the Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat, was among the women who participated. The decision to conduct the Eid prayers in the tunnel was made under the guidance of the Speaker, considering the inclement weather conditions.
Following the prayers, devotees were served dates and sweetmeats. A special prayer was subsequently offered, focusing on seeking welfare, happiness, peace, and prosperity for the entire Muslim Ummah and the nation. The prayer was led by Muhammad Saifullah, Senior Imam of the National Parliament Secretariat. Post congregation, Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed engaged with the attendees, exchanging greetings.
