Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in Rangpur

The holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festivity of the Muslims, was celebrated here today amid pleasing weather and tight security measures with due religious solemnity.

The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held at the Central Collectorate Eidgah Maidan at 8:30 am with participation of around 30,000 Musollis, including high officials, political leaders and dignitaries of the city.

Judge of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court Justice Abu Taher Md. Saifur Rahman, Divisional Commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa with high officials participated in the main Eid congregation.

Besides, leaders of Awami League and other political parties, public representatives, academics, business community leaders, civil society members, professionals, journalists and elite of the city participated in the main congregation.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Nure Alam Mina participated in the Eid congregation held at RpMP Police Lines ground while Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury took part at the congregation held at Police Lines ground.

Like in the previous years, the two biggest Eid-ul-Fitr congregations of the district were held at Damodarpur Baro Eidgah Maidan and at Taluk Habu Eidgah Maidan with participation of about 50,000 Musollis in each.

The Musollis of all ages, attired in traditional Eid dresses, participated at Eid-ul-Fitr congregations held at different Eidgahs, mosques and grounds in the city, all eight upazilas and three municipalities across the district.

In Rangpur city, major Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque, Munshipara Eidgah, Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque, Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Kamal Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Rangpur Medical College Central Jam-e-Mosque,

Sadar Hospital Jam-e-Mosque, Burirhat Central Eidgah, Alamnagar Waqf Mosque, Satmatha Jam-e- Mosque and Dhap Mohammadpur Jam-e-Mosque, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and other palacesโ€™ between 7:45 am and 9:30 am.

Outside the city, bigger Eid jamats were held at Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Keramotia Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School ground, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah and Paikan Baro Jumma Mosque ground in Gangachara upazila.

Besides, dozens of Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held in the local Eidgahs, mosques, open places and grounds at all eight upazila headquarters and rural areas as per locally fixed time schedules between 8:30 am and 10:30 am.

The Musollis offered special munajats at all congregations seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of departed souls of their nearer and dearer ones, continued peace and prosperity of the country, its people and Muslim Ummah and humanity.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police, district police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13, Police Investigation Bureau and other law enforcement and intelligence agencies took adequate measures and ensured peaceful holding of Eid congregations.

The main streets and major buildings and mosques were illuminated and colorfully decorated marking the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.

The important government and private buildings and mosques were colorfully decorated and illuminated giving charming looks to the city.

Improved diets were served to inmates of different hospitals, jails, shishu paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres.
