Jhenaidah: With the approach of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, sales in various shopping malls and roadside markets in Jhenaidah district are gaining momentum. Different markets are bustling as the sale of clothes, cosmetics, ornaments, and grocery products has started in full swing. Tailors have increased their activity, and people from different income groups are busy with Eid shopping for their family and friends. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a large number of customers are thronging different markets from morning till midnight to buy their desired outfits. Almost all the shops are decorated with colorful lights, banners, and festoons, giving the city a festive look. The shopping malls of Sayadatia Complex, Munshi Market, and Post Office intersection in the district town are crowded with buyers, with the crowd increasing in the afternoon. Shopkeepers are spending busy times in the shopping malls of the district town, including Samabaya Super Market, Munshi Market, and Jinnah Super Market. As it's the month of Ramadan, a new dimension is added with the arrangement of Iftar along with handling customers. Shopkeepers and employees have been busy arranging Iftar since after Asr prayers, and after Iftar, shopping is in full swing. A crowd of low-income people has been seen in Pipilika Market, Krishi College Market, and Zilla Parishad Market. Many are buying their favorite clothes according to their ability. In addition to buying clothes to put smiles on the faces of all family members, there is an increased crowd of customers in cosmetics, jewelry, shoes, sandals, and tailor shops. Apart from the district town, Eid shopping is going on in full swing in Kaliganj, Kotchandpur, Maheshpur, Shailkupa, and Harinakundu upazila towns. Marginalized people from villages are also flocking to shops to buy new clothes, ornaments, and decorative items according to their ability. Shoppers have gathered in markets across the district, including Dakbangla, Khalishpur, Hat Gopalpur, Barobazar, Narikel Bariya, Garaganj, Bhatai , and Hat Fazilpur. Shopper Sabina Khatun mentioned coming to the market to buy clothes for her children and other family members. The gathering of buyers is increasing every day as Eid-ul-Fitr approaches. Customers from rural areas gather at different markets during the day, while people from the district town gather after Iftar. Another shopper, Matiur Rahman, noted that the prices of local clothes are tolerable, but foreign-made clothes are a bit high. Buyer Hosne Ara Begum observed that in previous years, there was a boom in Indian and Pakistani clothes and buyers had to pay higher prices, but this year there is less interest in foreign clothes. The prices of clothes, cosmetics, and decorative items in the market are not very high. Anwarul Islam Badsha, president of the District Shop Owners' Association, stated that sales are going on in a festive atmosphere, with people buying clothes of their choice according to their needs. The overall monitoring is being done by the Shop Owners' Association, consid ering the business environment and the safety of the buyers seriously.
