Dhaka: Sholakia Eidgah in the district is set to host the Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat (congregation) at 10:00 AM tomorrow. Centering on this significant Muslim festival, the district administration has enhanced security measures around the venue to ensure devotees can offer their Eid prayers without any disruptions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, preparations, including security measures, are nearly complete to hold the 198th Eid jamaat at Sholakia Eidgah. Sholakia Eidgah Maidan management committee president and Kishoreganj deputy commissioner Fauzia Khan informed reporters about the arrangements after visiting the historic site. Devotees are only permitted to bring a cap, prayer mat, and mobile phone into the venue, with umbrellas and other items prohibited.
To accommodate the influx of devotees, two special trains, named Sholakia Express, will operate on the Kishoreganj-Mymensingh and Bhairab-Kishoreganj routes. The congregation will be led by Mufti Abul Khair Mohammad Saifullah, the Khatib of Boro Bazar Masjid. In his absence, Maulana Zubair Ibn Abdul Hai from Hoybatnagar AU Kamil Madrasa will lead the prayers.
Security is a top priority, with five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), 1,100 police officers in both uniform and plainclothes, as well as numerous RAB and Ansar members, stationed around the Eidgah. To further ensure safety, law enforcement personnel will be positioned on nearby building roofs.
Attendees must pass through at least four police checkpoints to enter the Eidgah Maidan. Additionally, RAB and police will oversee the area using binoculars from six watchtowers, supported by four drones and several CCTV cameras.
Emergency services, including fire service personnel, a medical team with six ambulances, a police quick response unit, and a bomb disposal team, will be active at the Eid grounds to address any potential incidents.
