Dhaka: The government has issued a directive for all educational institutions to commemorate World Environment Day on June 25. The initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainability through activities such as tree planting and campus greening efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has announced the rescheduling of World Environment Day-2025 to June 25, instead of the traditional June 5, due to the Eid holiday. A formal communication has been dispatched to all district education officials and other relevant parties by the physical education section of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education.
The day's events will be inaugurated by Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government. Planned activities include cleaning institution premises and classrooms, planting and caring for trees, and educating students on reducing plastic and polythene usage. The goal is to motivate them to adopt environmentally friendly products and practices.
Additionally, the observance will feature processions, discussions, seminars, and debate competitions to underscore the significance of World Environment Day, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility among students.
