Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) is set to release the draft of the updated voter list tomorrow, marking a significant step in preparation for the upcoming 13th National Parliament election. This draft will feature the inclusion of approximately 4.45 million voters who were previously excluded and will also remove the names of deceased individuals.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed revealed that this draft list is a crucial part of the ongoing efforts to ensure an accurate and comprehensive voter registry. He also mentioned that the process for addressing claims and objections is expected to be completed by August 31.

Previously, on August 4, the EC had issued a press release stating that the draft voter list would be available on August 10. Following any necessary corrections, the final version of the voter list is anticipated for release by August 31.

The press release further detailed that the EC would unveil a supplementary voter list on August 10. This list will include individuals who registered in the voter database by June 30, 2025, provided they were born on or before January 1, 2007. Additionally, it will feature a list of voters who have passed away, for subsequent deletion.

Once the supplementary list is published, there will be a window until August 21 for submitting applications related to the inclusion of eligible names, deletion of names due to death or ineligibility, voter transfers, and correction of errors. The comprehensive final voter list, reflecting all updates, is scheduled for publication on August 31.

Earlier, on July 21, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed had announced that 44.66 lakh new voters had been added to the voter list in the current cycle.
