Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) today convened a meeting focused on the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies, the specification of polling centres, and the code of conduct for political parties and candidates ahead of the upcoming 13th parliamentary polls. The session took place at Nirbachon Bhaban in the capital, chaired by Election Commissioner M Anwarul Islam Sarker.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting involved in-depth discussions on the delimitation of 79 parliamentary constituencies alongside other pertinent agendas. A draft concerning the delimitation of these constituencies was developed, taking into account applications received, population data, administrative areas, and the election commission's policy.
An EC source familiar with the developments stated that the decisions made during today's meeting will be presented to the commission's meeting for a final decision. The committee, headed by Election Commissioner Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar, was established to oversee the delimitation of constituencies, the registration of political parties, and the preparation for national and local government elections. Today marked the committee's 12th meeting.
