Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) has announced a fresh election schedule for Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies in the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections, following directives from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a gazette notification signed by EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed disclosed the revision. The schedule was updated by canceling the relevant portion of the previously issued gazette dated December 11, 2025, in compliance with an order of the Appellate Division passed on January 15, 2026.

The new schedule sets January 18 as the deadline for submitting nomination papers to the returning or assistant returning officers, with scrutiny scheduled for January 19. Aggrieved candidates may file appeals against the decisions of the returning officers from January 20 to January 24, with the disposal of these appeals to be completed by January 25.

Candidates have until January 26 to withdraw their candidature, and election symbols will be allotted on January 27. The EC Secretariat stated that polling in the two constituencies will occur on February 12, 2026, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm using ballot papers. Voters will cast their votes with transparent ballot boxes.

The EC announced the fresh program under the Representation of the People Order, 1972, following an order from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in connection with Civil Petition for Leave to Appeal (No. 190/2026).
