Gaibandha: Durga Puja was celebrated amid religious fervor and enthusiasm, with Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed highlighting the remarkable communal harmony between Hindus and Muslims in the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the five-day Durga Puja, regarded as the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, was celebrated in all seven upazilas of the district since Sunday. DC Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed noted that not only Hindu devotees were visiting the puja mandaps, but Muslims were also participating and exchanging pleasantries, showcasing excellent communal harmony in the area. This year, 585 puja mandaps were erected across the district.
DC Chowdhury Muazzam Ahmed made these observations while exchanging pleasantries during his visit to a puja mandap in the Kalibari area of Palashbari upazila town on Tuesday evening. The puja committee members briefed the DC, expressing their gratitude for the peaceful celebration of the festival and the administration's strict security measures to maintain law and order around the puja mandaps.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Al-Yasha Rahman Tapadar, Officer-in-Charge of Palashbari Thana Zulficar Ali Bhutto, and local elites were also present during the DC's visit.
