DUCSU Election Commission Formed with 10 Members

Dhaka: A 10-member Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) Election Commission has been formed with Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin of the Botany Department as the Chief Returning Officer. The committee was formed today at a meeting of the university syndicate, a DU press release stated.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the other members of the Election Commission include Professor Dr. ASM Mohiuddin of the Department of Soil, Water and Environment, and Professor Dr. Golam Rabbani from the Institute of Social Welfare and Research. Additionally, the commission includes Professor Dr. Kazi Maruful Islam of the Department of Development Studies, Professor Dr. Kazi Mostaq Ghausul Haque from the Department of Information Science and Library Management, and Professor Dr. Nasreen Sultana of the Institute of Health Economics.



Further members consist of Professor Dr. Shahidul Islam (Shahidul Zahid) from the Department of Banking and Insurance, Professor Dr. Tariq Manzoor of the Department of Bengali, Professor Dr. SM Shamim Reza of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, and Sharmin Kabir from the Institute of Education and Research.



The returning officers will manage election-related tasks through discussions with the vice chancellor. The number of returning officers has been increased from six to ten to ensure a transparent and acceptable DUCSU election, the press release stated.
