Grand Master Ziaur Rahman and International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh earned 4.5 points each after the 7th round matches of the 22nd Dubai Open Chess Tournament held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday..
Three other Bangladeshi players, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag earned 3.5 points, FM Tahsin Tazwar Zia and FM Md Taibur Rahman scored three points each after the 7th round games.
In Friday’s 7th round matches, GM Zia lost to GM Iniyan P of India, IM Fahad beat FM Parag, FM Tahsin lost to S Rohit of India while FM Taibur drew with Sabirova Shakhnoza of Uzbekistan.
The 8th and penultimate round matches began at 7 pm on Saturday (Bangladesh time).
In the 8th round matches, GM Zia playing against FM Liyanage Ranindu Dilshan of Sri Lanka, IM Fahad playing with GM Muradli Mahammad of Azerbaijan, FM Parag playing with Rohith Krishna S of India, FM Tahsin playing with Joel Paul Ganta of India while FM Taibur playing against FM Ahmed Fareed of United Arab Emirates.
