Dhaka: The Dhaka University (DU) has outlined a comprehensive set of activities to commemorate the Independence and National Day on March 26. The programme will feature a discussion meeting, the laying of floral wreaths at the National Martyr’s Memorial, and a special munajat or prayer.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on March 26, the national flag will be raised at all central buildings, residential halls, and hostels of the university at 6 a.m. University teachers, students, officials, employees, and alumni will convene at Smriti Chironton Chattar at 5:45 a.m. Subsequently, the university staff, led by the Vice-Chancellor (VC), will proceed to the National Martyr’s Memorial to lay floral wreaths.
A special munajat will be held at the University Central Mosque after the Johr prayer, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyred intellectuals. Additional prayers will be offered at other religious sites. Sweets will also be distributed among the families of university employees.
A discussion meeting on the significance of Independence and National Day is scheduled for March 29 at 11:30 a.m. at the Teachers Students Center (TSC) auditorium. DU VC Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan will preside over the meeting, with Pro Vice Chancellor (Admin) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, and Treasurer Professor Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attending as guests of honor.
