Dhaka: The Dhaka University unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal submitted a memorandum to the university vice-chancellor, demanding effective measures for dengue prevention and campus cleanliness.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the memorandum was part of the 'Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026,' a nationwide initiative launched by Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairman Tarique Rahman. The delegation, led by Dhaka University Chhatra Dal President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas and General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon, met Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr A B M Obaidul Islam to present their six-point proposal aimed at improving cleanliness and the environment on campus.
After submitting the memorandum, Chhatra Dal leaders took proactive steps by distributing awareness leaflets to students from VC Chattar to TSC. During a brief press briefing, DU Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon emphasized the need for regular and effective campaigns by the university administration to prevent dengue and maintain a clean environment. He highlighted their specific demands, including the installation of dustbins and regular cleanliness drives, which were outlined in the memorandum submitted on August 4.
President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas assured that the organisation would continue its dengue prevention and cleanliness programmes independently while offering voluntary support to the university and hall administrations for larger initiatives involving students. He indicated that the organisation's hall units would begin submitting memorandums to their respective hall administrations and hold discussions on the issue starting Monday, alongside distributing awareness leaflets among residential students.
