Dhaka: A high-level delegation from Chevron met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday to discuss potential investments by the US energy giant in Bangladesh's energy sector, with a particular focus on gas. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's Office at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the morning, as stated in a release from the PM's Press Wing.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the delegation was led by Javier La Rosa, President of Chevron's Base Assets and Emerging Countries. The discussions centered on increasing Chevron's investment in Bangladesh's existing and mature gas fields, as well as exploring opportunities for investment in new gas fields. These discussions align with the government's ongoing efforts to bolster domestic gas production and attract foreign investment to meet the country's escalating energy demands.
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister's Adviser on Finance and Planning, Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Aninda Islam Amit, Chevron Bangladesh President and Managing Director Shu Xiong, and other senior officials. This engagement underscores the critical role of international partnerships in enhancing Bangladesh's energy infrastructure and capabilities.
