Dhaka: A Detective Branch (DB) team under the Wari division has successfully arrested a drug dealer and confiscated 483 bottles of Phensidyle in a targeted operation in the Jatrabari area of the city. The suspect, identified as Md Ashikur Rahman Ashiq, aged 30, was apprehended as part of a broader effort to curb drug trafficking in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrest followed a coordinated raid conducted by the DB team in the Matuail Medical area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jatrabari police station. The operation, led by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman, took place at approximately 2:10 pm. In addition to the arrest, authorities seized a covered van that was allegedly used for the transportation of the illicit drugs.
The press release issued by the media and public relations division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) further revealed that two accomplices managed to evade capture during the operation. Efforts are reportedly underway to locate and apprehend these individuals. In response to the incident, a case has been filed with the Jatrabari Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act, initiating formal legal proceedings against the suspect.
