Dhaka: Adviser for Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs Sharmeen S Murshid announced today that Chief Adviser of the interim government, Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus, is making efforts to present Bangladesh as one of the world’s leading nations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sharmeen Murshid expressed these sentiments while inaugurating the Deputy Directors (DDs) Conference-2025 at the Madhumoti Auditorium of the Social Service Department, where she served as the chief guest. Murshid emphasized that, in line with Prof Yunus’s vision, the social welfare ministry also aspires to be recognized as one of the top ministries in the country.

The two-day DD conference, themed ‘Go forward with the stakeholders for facing the challenges of social development,’ is chaired by the Director General of the Social Service Department, Md Saidur Rahman Khan. The event was attended by key figures, including the Secretary of the Social Welfare Ministry, Dr Md Mohiuddin, as a special guest, along with senior ministry officials and representatives from various social and non-government organizations.

Murshid highlighted the opportunity for a transformative approach to nation-building, stressing the importance of instilling discipline within the ministry and eradicating corruption. She urged government officials to work transparently and efficiently to meet the government’s objectives.

Furthermore, Sharmeen S Murshid noted that the interim government came into being through a historical movement, referring to the July revolution, which arose in opposition to the previous government’s misrule and corruption.
