Keraniganj: A dockyard security guard was stabbed to death allegedly by muggers in the Bashundhara River View Balur Math area of South Keraniganj early Wednesday. The victim, Ahmed Dewan, 60, son of the late Mofa Dewan of South Pangaon, Keraniganj, was employed as a security guard at Pangaon Dockyard.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Ahmed Dewan was intercepted by a group of muggers in the Balur Math area around 5:30 am. The assailants stabbed him in the left side of his abdomen and fled the scene with his mobile phone. His daughter, Rekha, reported that he was subsequently taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 9:30 am, where doctors declared him dead.
Inspector Md Faruk, who is in charge of the DMCH police camp, stated that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue. The incident has been reported to the Keraniganj South Police Station for further investigation.
