Dinajpur: A doa mahfil was held in the district seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of BNP chairperson and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia on Friday evening. The programme featured Quran recitation and special prayers and was organized by the district and municipal units of Zia Manch, in collaboration with the district BNP and town BNP. The mahfil took place after Maghrib prayers at Mirza Market premises on Balubari Bishwa Road of the district town.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Maulana Mohammad Raihan Kabir conducted the prayer, and the event was presided over by Zia Manch Dinajpur district branch convener Md. Nowshad Alam Pappur. BNP nominated candidate for the Dinajpur-3 (Sadar) constituency, Syed Jahangir Alam, attended the programme as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Dinajpur Municipal BNP president Md. Ziaur Rahman Zia, Krishak Dal district branch senior joint convener Md. Rafiqul Islam Pavel, Municipal BNP vice president Md. Badal Dewan, and former councillor Md. Motibur Rahman Biplob.
The gathering also saw the presence of Zia Manch district branch member secretary Md. Shahriar Zaman Shah, ward BNP president Md. Mokhlesur Rahman, joint general secretary Md. Raju Ahmed, district Sramik Dal associate general secretary Md. Enamul Haque, Zia Manch district committee joint convener Md. Helal Uddin, and Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front leader Sweet Chatterjee among others.
