Doa Mahfil Held in City to Mark 44th Martyrdom Anniversary of Ziaur Rahman

Dhaka: A special doa mahfil was held in the city today to commemorate the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman which will be observed in the country tomorrow with due respect. The event took place at Jamia Kurbania Talimia (Dauraye Hadith) Women’s Madrasa and Orphanage at Bauniabadh area of Pallabi here.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program was organized by BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and it began in the morning and continued until Zuhr prayers. It included a Khatam-e-Quran session followed by special prayers seeking eternal peace for the late president.



Following the prayer session, food was distributed among the madrasa students as part of the observance. Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, known as the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence and a pioneer of multi-party democracy, was a sector commander during the War of Liberation and led the “Z Force”. He was assassinated on May 30, 1981, by a group of disgruntled army officers at the Chittagong Circuit House.
