Dhaka: Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Monday distributed around 2,500 raincoats among its cleanliness workers to ensure uninterrupted sanitation services during the monsoon. The raincoats were handed over at a programme held at Gulshan Nagar Bhaban in the morning.
According to United News of Bangladesh, DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan attended the programme as the chief guest. Shafiqul emphasized the dedication of the cleanliness workers who labor tirelessly from early morning to maintain a hygienic environment for the city’s residents. He highlighted the Prime Minister’s recent initiative to provide a special bonus during Eid as recognition of their valuable contribution.
Shafiqul assured the workers of DNCC’s commitment to their welfare, promising continued support to enable them to carry out their duties effectively. He stressed that the success of their efforts would be measured by the satisfaction of the city dwellers.
Previously, winter clothing, masks, and gumboots were distributed to the workers, with the raincoats being part of this ongoing initiative. Speakers at the event underscored the importance of ensuring safety for sanitation workers and called for increased awareness among city residents, asserting that a clean and livable Dhaka requires a collective effort.
