Dhaka:Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md. Safiqul Islam Khan stated that all tender activities of the city corporation are conducted through the electronic government procurement (e-GP) system, ensuring adherence to government rules and eliminating any potential influence from political affiliations.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Khan made these remarks during the inauguration of the 'Urban Garden' project organized by the social development organization Footsteps beneath the Moghbazar flyover in the capital. He criticized a recent media report that suggested otherwise, asserting that tenders are invited and work orders are issued through a fully transparent e-GP process.

He condemned what he described as baseless and false reporting, urging all concerned to maintain responsible journalism and honesty. Khan emphasized the DNCC's collaboration with Footsteps in urban development initiatives aimed at transforming Dhaka into a modern, green, and livable city. He praised Footsteps for its contributions to environmental improvement, highlighting the garden beneath the Moghbazar flyover as an example of efforts to enhance the city's environment.

Khan also mentioned the DNCC's ongoing projects, including the renovation of Gulshan Lake, painting decorative graffiti, and improving the 40-foot canal in Bosila with amenities such as benches, dustbins, and streetlights. He noted that a 45-day special program had been conducted to clean the Bosila canal.

On the topic of eviction drives, Khan stated that the DNCC would persist in removing illegal occupiers from footpaths to facilitate public movement and ease traffic congestion. He cited the recovery of a footpath at Mirpur-10, which had reportedly been occupied for 25 years. Footpaths constructed with taxpayers' money are intended to ensure unhindered movement for citizens, he added.

The inauguration was attended by DNCC Chief Engineer Brig Gen Syed Raquibul Hasan and Chief Waste Management Officer Captain Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, among others.
