Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today announced that a comprehensive security plan has been implemented to ensure a peaceful Janmashtami celebration on August 16. “A flawless security will be provided to the Janmashtami ceremonies in coordination with the armed forces, city corporations, and various intelligence agencies,” he stated during a coordination meeting at the DMP Headquarters regarding security and traffic management for the Janmashtami procession.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan for the Janmashtami procession through a PowerPoint presentation at the meeting. Representatives from intelligence agencies, religious leaders, the Fire Service, Electricity Division, Dhaka WASA, Dhaka North and South City Corporations, and Health Department officials participated in an open discussion, sharing their opinions.

The meeting emphasized the importance of installing high-quality CCTV cameras in every temple, setting up archways in Dhakeshwari National Temple and Swamibag ISKCON Temple, scheduling specific start and end times for the procession, deploying a sufficient number of volunteers with visible ID cards, and respecting the religious sentiments of other communities.

On August 16, 2025, the Hindu community in Dhaka will celebrate Janmashtami, commemorating the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, with a colorful procession in the capital.
