DMP Plans Comprehensive Security Measures on Pahela Baishakh

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today announced a plan to implement comprehensive security measures for the peaceful celebration of Pahela Baishakh, marking the first day of the Bangla New Year 1432.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Commissioner Ali emphasized the importance of ensuring safety during the festivities, stating that the measures aim to maintain traditional enthusiasm and a festive atmosphere in the capital. He made these remarks while leading a security coordination meeting at the DMP headquarters.

The commissioner highlighted that Pahela Baishakh is a festival for everyone, with various events organized by multiple entities across Dhaka's metropolitan areas. The celebrations are set for April 14, and the coordination meeting was attended by representatives from intelligence agencies, specialized police units, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and other governmental and private organizations.

During the meeting, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan via a PowerPoint presentation. Key attendees included DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Sarwar, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick, and other senior police officials, reflecting a collaborative effort to ensure a secure environment for the celebrations.
