Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today urged police officers to register cases of cognizable offences to ensure that real criminals face justice. 'Cases must be taken in cases of cognizable crimes. No incident can be suppressed. The mystery of the cases must be revealed and the real criminals must be brought to justice,' he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Commissioner Ali made these remarks during the monthly crime review meeting for March-2025 at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh. During the meeting, he also acknowledged and awarded various officers of the DMP for their contributions to maintaining law and order, crime control, and public safety in March.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of enhancing measures to prevent crimes and resolve cases, as well as increasing the number of warrants. He commended police personnel for their efforts in reducing crime incidents, particularly robberies, in the metropolitan city. 'Robberies have decreased to a large extent because you are working sincerely. Everyone must keep a vigilant eye so that it does not happen again,' he noted.
He expressed gratitude to the DMP members for their dedication in maintaining law and order during Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and the Bengali New Year. He urged police officers to perform their duties with professionalism, highlighting that the Detective Branch (DB) should increase arrests based on intelligence by identifying criminals. He also instructed officers-in-charge of each DMP police station to investigate cases diligently.
Commissioner Ali advised police patrol teams to coordinate with security guards in their areas. If security personnel have information about any crime, they should share it with the police to facilitate appropriate action.
Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Sarwar and Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S. N. Md. Nazrul Islam also addressed the meeting. Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Md. Faruk Hossain presented an overview of the crime situation for March-2025.
