DMP Commissioner Assures Justice Over Shooting of Dhaka-8 Aspirant Osman Hadi

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali has expressed optimism that those involved in the assassination attempt on Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, a potential candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency in the 13th parliamentary polls, will soon be brought to justice. Talking to journalists after addressing the annual general meeting of the Retired Police Officers Welfare Association at Rajarbagh today, he said police are actively searching for the prime suspect.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the DMP Commissioner shared that the police are diligently seeking the cooperation of the public in their efforts to locate the prime suspect. ‘We are looking for the prime suspect. We hope we will be able to arrest him…We are seeking the cooperation of the public,’ he stated.



Responding to concerns over the security of potential candidates ahead of the upcoming national elections, the Commissioner assured that necessary measures are currently being implemented. ‘We are taking measures for their security,’ he affirmed.



Although 24 hours have not passed since the incident at the time of his remarks, the Commissioner reiterated his hope that the perpetrators would soon be identified and arrested. The incident took place on Friday afternoon, just a day after the election schedule was announced.



Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, who serves as the spokesperson of Inqilab Manch, was shot on Box Culvert Road in the Purana Paltan area of the capital. Following the attack, he was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and later transferred to Evercare Hospital for advanced treatment.
