DMP Arrests 499 in 24-Hour Drive Across Dhaka

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 499 people and filed 49 cases during its regular anti-crime drives across the capital in the past 24 hours. The arrests were made by DMP's nine divisions and its Detective Branch (DB), with Mirpur recording the highest number of arrests at 131, followed by Tejgaon with 86, Wari 57, Motijheel 56, Uttara 49, Ramna 41, Gulshan 38, Lalbagh 36 and DB 5.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the drives, police recovered a foreign-made pistol, a magazine and three rounds of ammunition, besides five machetes, two swords and a knife. The seizures also included 395 yaba tablets, 438 bottles of Phensedyl, 2.4 kilograms of cannabis, 45 bottles of foreign liquor, four mobile phones, a gold earring, nine fuel papers, three gas lighters, three plastic bottles used for consuming yaba and Tk 25,000 in cash.

The suspects were arrested in separate operations conducted in different police station areas of the capital, while legal proceedings against them are underway.
