Dhaka: Police arrested 20 people overnight in the city's Mohammadpur as part of a special anti-crime operation. Mohammadpur police station's officer-in-charge Kazi Md Rafique Ahmed told BSS that they netted the 20 people on charges of various crimes such as mugging, drug trading and theft during their latest drive carried out by several teams.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the suspects were produced before a Dhaka court which sent them to jail. The arrested individuals are identified as Mustafa Biswas Nasim, 2, Kamal, 37, Jiban, 24, Wahid, 18, Robin, 26, Jasim, 35, Rabbi, 21, Shahabuddin, 38, Jewel, 45, Mukhlesur Rahman, 20, Mridul Sourav, 28, Manik, 48, Bachchu Mia, 27, Selim, 24, Mithun, 30, Chan Mia, 45, Sohel Matabbar, 27, Ali Raj, 25, Azizul Haque, 50, and Honufa, 35.
Ahmed stated that Mohammadpur police station arrested over 800 suspected criminals last month while over 150 cases have been filed against criminals so far.
