Rangpur: Officials and experts at a discussion have emphasized the necessity of producing high-quality, global standard products to ensure all developments are admissible and to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDG) for building a prosperous Bangladesh. They expressed these views during a discussion held in observance of World Standards Day-2025 at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room in Rangpur city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration and the divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) jointly organized the discussion to increase awareness about product quality and standards. Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam attended as the chief guest, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal presiding over the event.
Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Rangpur CAB President Md Abdur Rahman, and Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries Director Rashidus Sultan Bablu participated as special guests. Deputy Director (Metrology) and Head of Office at BSTI Divisional Office in Rangpur, Mubin-ul-Islam, delivered a welcome speech and the keynote essay at the event.
The chief guest highlighted the importance of maintaining quality in various sectors such as production, service, and education, stating that quality services and products enhance the country's image and contribute to building a sustainable society for future generations. He emphasized the need for adhering to international standards to strengthen the export sector and maintain the quality of manufactured goods.
Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam remarked on the limitations of controlling product adulteration through law enforcement alone, advocating for ethics and public awareness as essential tools to combat adulteration. He urged manufacturers and traders to improve product quality and avoid producing substandard goods for higher profits.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal noted that the purpose of observing the day is to raise awareness about product and service quality. He expressed optimism that following BSTI standards would encourage the private sector, industrial entrepreneurs, traders, and exporters to focus on producing quality and environmentally friendly sustainable products.
Entrepreneurs and traders participating in the open discussion shared their views on facilitating BSTI services, extending the license period, and informing about product quality indicators.
