Dhaka: A discussion on ‘Maintenance of Witnesses’ Production and Judicial Register’ was held at the conference room of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court yesterday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the prosecution wing of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) organized the discussion, with Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the prosecution wing Md Tarek Jubair presiding over the session. Senior Special Judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Mohammad Zakir Hossain Galib was present as the chief guest, while Additional Commissioner (crime and operations) of the DMP SN Md Nazrul Islam, acting President and General Secretary of Dhaka Bar Association Abdur Razzak, and Md Nazrul Islam attended as special guests.
In his presidential speech, the Metropolitan Sessions Judge emphasized the importance of increasing the virtual presence of prosecution witnesses to ensure their attendance in court. He highlighted the need to modernize the production system of witnesses to ensure true and fair justice.
DMP’s Additional Commissioner Nazrul Islam noted that the discussion served as a bridge between the police and the judiciary, underscoring the necessity of making the judicial process efficient and speedy through the proper maintenance of witnesses’ production and the judicial register.
DMP DC Tarek Jubair stressed the importance of digitizing the judicial process and updating the maintenance of the daily judicial register to ensure justice aligns with the modern world.
The event was moderated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the prosecution wing Mainuddin Chowdhury and attended by public prosecutors of different courts, along with additional and assistant prosecutors.
