Kalia: A prayer and discussion was held today in Kalia upazila of the district to commemorate the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. Kalia Upazila and Pourashava BNP organized the event at the Kalia Bus Stand premises, bringing together local leaders and community members to honor the late president.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, former president of USA BNP Abdul Latif Samrat addressed the programme virtually as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Kalia Upazila BNP President Sardar Anwar Hossain, with other notable speakers including Dr. Ahmed Shafiqul Haider Parvez, a prominent BNP leader and chief advisor of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, and Zahirul Islam Zahir, general secretary of Texas State BNP, USA, who spoke as the key and special speakers respectively.
In his speech, Dr. Parvez highlighted Ziaur Rahman’s contributions to the country’s agricultural development and his vision for a corruption-free Bangladesh. He described the late president as a leader of the masses and a friend to the poor and underprivileged. Dr. Parvez further emphasized that the nation continues to honor Ziaur Rahman’s legacy and sacrifice with deep respect.
