Monohardi: A discussion meeting and ‘Doa Mahfil’ was held today in Monohardi to mark the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam. The event was organized by the Monohardi Upazila and Municipality units of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) along with its affiliated bodies. Former General Secretary of Monohardi Upazila BNP and ex-Mayor Alhaj Abdul Khaleq presided over the gathering.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, leaders of the BNP and its associated bodies participated in the discussion, paying tribute to the memory of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. They acknowledged his role in proclaiming the country’s independence and pioneering multi-party democracy. The event featured former Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Assistant Volunteer Affairs Secretary of the National Executive Committee of BNP, Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel, as the chief guest.
Key figures such as former Organising Secretary of Upazila BNP Bashed Molla Bhutto, and BNP leaders Alhaj Rehan Uddin Renu, Joynal Abedin, Kalam Master, Ohidullah, Din Mohammad, Altab Master, Oliullah, Shamim, Shafiqul Islam, and Billal Hossain were also in attendance. Additionally, municipal BNP leaders including Abdul Mannan Prodhan, Akram Hossain, Karim Master, Monir Akand, Monir Hossain, Kalam, Ukil Mia, and Robi Mia were present.
The event was conducted by Mahmudul Haque, Joint Convener of Monohardi Upazila BNP. Speakers at the event recalled the life, ideals, and contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and offered Munajat, seeking eternal peace for his departed soul.
