Dinesh Trivedi Emphasizes Preparedness for Tarique-Modi Summit

Dhaka:Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi highlighted the importance of thorough preparations before the meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Trivedi stated that careful planning is essential as the summit will cover a range of issues, including trade, commerce, and water. He expressed optimism about the future of relations between the two countries.

Following a meeting with Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan, Trivedi mentioned that a convenient time for both Prime Ministers is necessary. He emphasized the positive atmosphere surrounding the visit, although no specific timing has been discussed yet.

Trivedi assured that any challenges could be addressed if the two leaders sit down together. He acknowledged the presence of challenges but stressed the importance of dialogue.

Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that river-related issues, such as the Ganga Water Treaty, would be discussed under the Joint Rivers Commission. Technical-level meetings on these matters have continued.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir expressed confidence that Bangladesh and India would overcome challenges through dialogue, looking forward to positive outcomes and a future visit by Prime Minister Rahman to India. He added that the visit would occur when the environment is right and through mutual agreement, avoiding speculation about the timing.
