Dhaka: Land Record and Survey Department under the Ministry of Land is set to launch a digital survey across 305 mouzas in the Dhaka region soon, official sources revealed today. Mohammad Kamrul Arif, Director of the department, confirmed that the digital survey would commence in several specific mouzas within a few months, with the necessary administrative approval already secured from the land ministry.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Additional Secretary of the land ministry, Saima Yunus, stated that if the modern planning related to the land survey is implemented, it would curtail land-related forgery and corruption. The digital survey will facilitate real owners in asserting their ownership effortlessly, potentially resolving many land-related issues.
Among the 305 selected mouzas, 131 are located in Rupganj and 174 in Araihajar upazilas of the Narayanganj district. The initiative aims to enable landowners to obtain their Khatians and porcha from the comfort of their homes, fulfilling land-related needs via mobile phones.
The Bangladesh Digital Survey (BDS), under the Establishment of Digital Land Management System Project, is progressing in Chattogram, Narayanganj, Rajshahi City Corporation, Manikganj, Dhamrai Pourashava, and Kushtia Sadar Upazila with assistance from Korea. The project plans to expand the digital survey system nationwide, drawing insights from the first phase of the survey.
Landowners can now apply for their Khatians and mouza maps by calling 16122 and pay their land mutation fees and development taxes online. They can also receive all related documents via postal service. The misuse of power by land-related government officers is expected to reduce significantly once the digital survey system is in place. Furthermore, the project will introduce e-porcha, e-registration, collection of land-related taxes, and a virtual hearing system.
