Dhaka:A court in Dhaka has issued an order to show Dilip Kumar Agarwala, owner of Diamond World, as arrested in another case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the order was passed by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir following a petition filed by ACC's investigating officer and assistant director, Sazzad Hossain. The petition argued that it was necessary to show Agarwala as arrested in the ACC case to ensure a proper investigation.
The application presented in court accuses Agarwala of illegally obtaining and possessing assets valued at over Tk 112 crore, allegedly inconsistent with his known sources of income. It further alleges that over Tk 755 crore was transacted through his 34 bank accounts, including deposits of over Tk 385 crore and withdrawals of over Tk 369 crore. These transactions reportedly involved the transfer, conversion, and concealment of funds.
The ACC's Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1, filed the case on October 8, 2025, under Section 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, and Sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012. The application also stated that Agarwala is currently in jail after being arrested in a separate money laundering case filed with Gulshan Police Station. Additionally, it was noted that Agarwala was a member of the sub-committee on Commerce and Industry Affairs of the now-banned Awami League.
