Dhaka: Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain on Wednesday stated that Bangladesh has not yet taken any decision on sending its forces to Gaza under the International Stabilization Force (ISF), emphasizing that the country has clearly outlined three conditions. ‘No decision has been made. It is still at the discussion level. It has not been determined yet who will be part of this initiative. Most importantly, three conditions have been mentioned clearly,’ he told reporters in response to a question at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Adviser Hossain emphasized that Bangladesh would not participate without an environment consistent with the three key preconditions. He addressed queries regarding the discussion’s timing, given the interim government’s tenure ending with the February 12 election, asserting that the government remains in place until then. Hossain assured that the country’s engagement and interests remain unchanged, and the government would not undertake actions contrary to national interests.
The Foreign Affairs Adviser expressed optimism about a smooth upcoming transition and noted that the ISF is a global concern, not solely dependent on Bangladesh. The interim government acknowledged interest from some Muslim countries in participating in the force.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam earlier recognized the significance of the UN Security Council’s decision to establish the ISF for Gaza, noting the interest of some Muslim countries. Alam highlighted that Bangladesh, a significant contributor to UN peacekeeping forces and supporter of the Palestinian cause, considers its participation contingent on several principles. These include a temporary ISF operating under a clear UN mandate, a permanent ceasefire, complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and transferring responsibilities to the Palestinians.
Alam reiterated Bangladesh’s steadfast support for Palestinian self-determination and a sovereign Palestinian State based on 1967 borders with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital. He condemned Israeli actions in Gaza and demanded their immediate cessation and withdrawal.
Bangladesh acknowledged the UN Security Council’s resolution 2803 adopted on November 17, 2025, which provided for the establishment of an ISF for Gaza. Alam noted that all Muslim countries on the Security Council voted for the resolution, with several Arab and Muslim countries recommending its adoption.
