‘Development should be on the basis of population, geography’

Kathmandu: Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Mahindra Raya Yadav has said that development should be carried out on the basis of population and geography.

Speaking at the ‘National Urban Sanitation Conference-2023 organized by Nepal Municipality Association here Thursday, Minister Yadav said that the budget in the local level should be allocated also keeping population in view.

“Capital expenditure should be appropriately allocated in the local level. Effective work execution is likely if budget was allocated on the basis of population in the local level,” Minister Yadav added.

He also shared that the government was thinking the ways to make the local governments further effective.

Saying that the budget should be allocated considering the human development indexes, Yadav argued that legal barriers should be replaced if there are any between the federal and local government.
